Our Location

You will find the Rottnest Guides’ Information Booth next door to the historic Salt Store at the top of the ramp up from the main jetty and the island’s Visitor Centre.

Guided Walks

There are many walks to choose from. We have five guided walks departing from the Information Booth every day of the year except Christmas Day. Free, no booking required;

Meet the Quokkas (9:15am) A short introduction to Rottnest Island’s iconic native species, the quokka
Reefs, Wrecks and Daring Sailors (10:15am) The maritime history of the European settlement of Western Australia and specifically Rottnest, with its treacherous reefs and many shipwrecks
Pioneers and Prisoners (11:15am) Stories of the people who built and lived in the historic buildings around the Settlement
Salt, Settlers and Survivors (1:30pm) Relive the struggle by the early inhabitants of the island to feed their families
Meet the Quokkas (2:00pm) A slightly longer walk to find out more about quokkas in their native habitat

Getting Around the Island

Bicycle hire is available from all three Rottnest ferry operators and from Pedal and Flipper on the island. The island is 11km long and experienced cyclists can easily do a round-trip to West End in 3-4 hours. Anyone who hasn’t been on a bicycle for some time should note that there are quite a lot of short but quite steep hills between Kingston – Geordie Bay and Narrow Neck (west of Wadjemup Lighthouse). E-Bikes and E-Scooters are available for rental from Pedal and Flipper.
Quokka Coaches run both a Hop-On Hop-Off bus around the island and a variety of island tours
Rottnest Express run their own Discover bus tour
Wheelchairs are available from the island’s Visitor Centre, free-of-charge. Please telephone in advance on (08) 9372 9730 during opening hours (7.30 am – 5:30 pm) to make a booking. Some mobility scooters are also available (fee payable).
